When Is Picture Week?
Picture week starts Thursday, June 8th and the last day is Wednesday, June 15th.
Pictures are done during class time and the dancers are to wear their dance costumes with the appropriate tights, shoes, hair, and make up. Ms. Tonya Dran from Riandi photography takes great pictures of our dancers. Her packets start at around $20.00 and go up from there. She also offers a la carte items as well.
How do we know what the correct tights and shoes for the pictures and the recital?
We have “The Book” where you will see the picture of your dancer’s costume. There is also information about shoes, tights, and hairstyles for the routine.
What make up does my dancer wear?
The ladies will need pink blush, red lipstick, brown eyeshadow, black mascara, and black eyeliner. Please darken your dancer’s eyebrows with an eyebrow pencil if they have fair eyebrows. There is a board that has a collage of pictures from our last picture week. This will give you an idea of what the makeup looks like.
Can we take pictures at the rehearsal and recital?
Yes you may, please do not use flash photography since it can blind our dancers. During the recital please stay seated while taking pictures. It is disruptive to the audience if parents are standing during the recital.
Can we videotape the rehearsal and recital?
You may video the rehearsal but not the recital. We have a professional videographer that tapes our shows. He will have forms at the rehearsal and the recital for you to fill out. Please follow this rule. If he sees people taping he will pack up and leave and many people order and enjoy his videos.
Does my dancer sit with me during the recital?
Your dancer will be in the dressing room for the whole show. For our younger dancers we have coloring books and Disney videos to keep them entertained. Older dancers please do not bring valuables into the dressing room. We do not want anything lost, broken, or stolen.
Can my dancer bring snacks and drinks into the dressing room?
Yes they can. Please only water so if it spills it will not ruin your dancer’s costume or anyone else’s. Please no messy snacks.
Is my child alone in the dressing room?
Absolutely not! Ms. Becky stays in the dressing room the entire time. We also have a great group of teens that help and with our little ones.
Are males allowed in the dressing room?
If any male needs a female from the dressing room, please ask Ms. Becky to get them. We don’t want men walking in while our ladies are changing. It is embarrassing to both parties.
Can we take pictures in the dressing room?
No, please take them in the hallway or cafeteria. We don’t want to catch anyone changing in the background and before it is noticed it gets posted on social media.
How does the rehearsal run?
The rehearsal is at Mt. Tahoma High School at 4643 South 74th Street Tacoma, 98409
When you arrive, please sit in the auditorium with dancers from your class. We will practice the finale first which all of the dancers are in. We will then rehearse our younger dancers and work our way to our older dancers. The rehearsal is from 4:30-9:30 p.m. Our younger dancers will not be there that late at all! Once your dancer has practiced the finale and their dance routine they are able to leave. Please bring things to keep your dancer occupied. Books, games, etc. Food and drink are not allowed in the auditorium but there is a cafeteria by the auditorium if your dancer needs to snack. Dancers do not need to wear their costume for the rehearsal. Please be patient! Sometimes it will take the technical crew from Mt. Tahoma a few minutes to get their things set up. This has nothing to do with Charisma but they need their things set up before we are allowed to start.
What happens recital day?
This is the day your dancer has worked so hard for! Please be patient with them if their hair isn’t working out the way you want or they keep blinking when you are trying to put on their mascara. This is a big day for them and they should be happy for all they have accomplished!
When you get to the auditorium, you bring your dancer to their dressing room. They should be there at 1:15 p.m. The doors to the auditorium open at 1:30 p.m. Tickets can be purchased at the door if there is a family member that decided to join at the last minute. We do have an intermission for 30 minutes. You may check on your child be we ask that you don’t take them out of the dressing room. During the intermission we have a bake sale and a raffle. The profits go to our scholarship fund and funding for our studio mirrors.
